What a week...

Well...  Where do I start...

A week that has had highs and lows.  It's turning out to be a very different Christmas.

The Highs...

It started out with an interview.  I'd applied for the level 6 applications programmer position at my Uni back in October and gained an interview with 4 other applicants.  I was extremely nervous going into the interview, as I always am.  However, the interview went very smoothly, I was able to answer all questions given to me.  I was informed unofficially on Thursday morning that I had been successful in winning the position.  It's a huge victory for me, finally gaining the position that I'd been working in for the last 5 years.

During this week I'd also chaired our tri-monthly work All-of-team meeting, which was held in Bathurst this time around.  I was part of the organisation team and it all went very well.

My Contract with CIT was also extended to March next year.

The Lows...

As I said at the start, the week had some lows as well.  Earlier in the week, Mum informed me that Granny's chemotherapy for her cancer had not made any impact on the cancers in her liver.  Granny has made the decision to stop the treatment, which couldn't have been easy by a long shot.  Because of this, the doctors have given her only a few months.  Mum is flying over to Adelaide to see her on the 28th, and I'm going to try and ring her and say hello.

Today was a big low as well.  Dad told me earlier that Nanna had spent the night in hospital with a bowel blockage, but then we were called this afternoon to say that Nanna had had a turn for the worse and was deteriorating.  We have since found out she had had an aneurism on the aorta.  Nanna passed away at around 8pm this evening.  It's been about 12 months since I've seen her, I wish I'd seen her more recently, but then this was pretty sudden.  Dad's taking it ok, well, as ok as one can take losing their mother, but I only spoke to him on the phone.

So, yeah...  Christmas will be quite interesting.

Goodbye Nanna, you'll be missed.
